Nothing loses a customer faster than a page that says a shop is open when the shutters are down. Most directories leave that to a checkbox the owner set once in 2023. ListGOPH does not. The Open Now badge on every listing is calculated, every time the page loads, from the business hours the owner entered and the current time in Manila.

This guide explains what the badge can say, why, and how to write your hours so it always says the right thing.

The three things the badge can say

BadgeWhat it means
Open Now (green)The current Manila time falls inside one of the hour ranges you set for today, or inside an overnight range that started yesterday.
Closed (red)Today has hours and the clock is outside them. If you open later today, the badge adds a hint such as "Opens 5:00 PM".
Not Claimed (grey)Nobody has claimed this listing yet, so nobody has vouched for its hours. Thousands of Cebu listings were added from public map data, and the site will not tell a customer "open" on hours no owner has confirmed.

There is a fourth, quiet case. If a day has no hours at all, or the text cannot be read, the badge shows nothing rather than guessing. Telling a customer you are closed on the strength of a typo is worse than saying nothing.

Why "Not Claimed" is good for you

If your listing shows Not Claimed, that is the invitation. Claim it, enter your hours once, and the badge starts working for you the same day. Claimed listings with real hours are what customers filter for when they are deciding where to go in the next hour.

How to write hours the badge can read

You type your hours per weekday, in plain text, the way you would write them on the door. The parser understands the common ways Cebuanos write them:

  • 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, with a hyphen, a dash pasted from Google, "to", "until" or "till".
  • 9am to 5pm, no minutes, no spaces needed.
  • 09:00-21:00, 24-hour time.
  • 12 nn and 12 mn for noon and midnight.
  • Closed for a day off, which shows Closed all day rather than nothing.
  • Open 24 hours for a place that never shuts.

Split shifts

Clinics and offices that close for lunch write two ranges separated by a comma: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. At 12:30 the badge says Closed with the hint "Opens 1:00 PM".

Overnight hours

Bars, KTVs and 24-hour eateries close after midnight. Write it exactly like that, 6:00 PM - 2:00 AM, and the badge understands that 1 AM on Saturday still belongs to Friday night's range. You do not need to split it across two days.

What it cannot read

"Depends", "call first", "usually 9ish" and month-specific notes are left unread, and the badge stays quiet for that day. Put those remarks in your description instead, and give the hours field a real range.

Where the badge appears

On your listing page, on every card in search results and category hubs, and on the pins and cards of the Explore map. A customer scanning a list of ten coffee shops at 9 PM sees at a glance which four are still pouring.

Checklist for owners

  1. Claim your listing.
  2. Enter hours for all seven days, including the days you are closed.
  3. Use one of the formats above, one range per shift, comma between shifts.
  4. For late-night venues, write the closing time as it is, past midnight.
  5. Change the hours for holidays a day ahead, and post a pinned announcement for special closures.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my listing say Closed when we are open?

Almost always a format the parser could not read, or hours entered for the wrong day. Open your listing, check today's row, and rewrite it as "9:00 AM - 9:00 PM".

Is the time Philippine time?

Yes. The badge uses Manila time regardless of where the visitor is, so a tourist checking from Seoul sees your real status.

We have different hours per branch.

Each listing has its own hours. If your Mandaue branch closes earlier than Cebu City, set them separately.

Set your hours once and let the badge do the rest. It is one of the smallest fields on your listing and the one customers act on most.
